Sierra and Ines are two passionate musicians who met in the UVM Chamber Music class in Spring 2022. Under the guidance of their inspiring teacher, Emily Taubl, they quickly bonded over their love for the cello. Since then, they’ve been playing together, exploring everything from Bach Cello Suites to Vivaldi duets to their favorite Taylor Swift medleys—an artist they both adore and even saw in concert together.
Sierra grew up on Long Island, NY and began playing cello at seven years old. Growing up, she studied privately with Matthew Schneider and Maureen Hynes. She was a member of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York for three years and performed at Carnegie Hall and Jazz at Lincoln Center. She graduated from UVM with a minor in music while studying under the instruction of Emily Taubl. Sierra also served as Principal Cellist of the UVM Symphony Orchestra and President of the UVM Philharmonic. Now, Sierra works full time at UVM as the Program Coordinator for the Leadership and Social Change Learning Community while enrolled part time in a Masters of Education. She still finds time to teach a few of her own cello students and participate in the UVM Symphony Orchestra. When she’s not working or playing cello, Sierra enjoys brushing up on her Italian, being active outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.
Ines was born and raised in Winooski, Vermont, and began playing the cello at age ten, studying with Emily Taubl. She played for five years in the Vermont Youth Orchestra and enjoyed organizing and performing in benefit concerts throughout high school, often volunteering to play at retirement homes and community events. While studying at the University of Vermont, Ines continued her musical journey as part of the chamber music program. Today, she is a passionate 9th-grade English teacher at Missisquoi Valley Union High School.
