Mal Maïz is a Vermont-based musical group that explores the psychedelic side of Latin music, weaving modern and traditional rhythms from Central and South America.
The storytelling behind each song is designed in a poetical way, elaborating on the complexity of the myths and legends that one time were part of the oral culture of Central America. You can feel the expression of their art through the fire and passion that ignited from their hearts. Maiz “Brujo” Vargas started this group 9 years ago at the epicenter of the Vermont music scene: Burlington, selecting a group of some of the most professional musicians that Vermont has brought to the contemporary music scene.
Mal Maïz delivers explosive and complex sounds that will make you dance, celebrate, and heal your soul. With their unique blend of Latin American folk, rock, and psychedelia, Mal Maïz creates an immersive experience that transports listeners to the vibrant landscapes and rich cultural heritage of Central and South America. From the lush rainforests of Costa Rica to the majestic Andean highlands, Sonido Mal Maïz's music is a sonic journey that explores the depths of human emotion, spirituality, and connection to the natural world.
