Queer Takeover presents their annual production of the ‘Rocky Horror Cabaret’. Reimagining the cult classic tradition with a uniquely Burlington contemporary twist.
Featuring a full shadow cast, a live band, drag queens, burlesque, puppetry, projection art, & a whole lot more.
Performers will act, sing, and dance simultaneously with the screening of the film - while the Queer Takeover house band recreates the score & soundtrack live.
The ‘Rocky Horror Cabaret’ features a one of a kind vaudevillian verity show in the tradition of screening & retelling the iconic cult classic ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’.
Featuring opening & intermission sets from Queer Takeover house band ‘Gay4Jazz’ and a DJ after party hosted by ‘missandri’ following the cabaret.
This is NOT a one to one recreation of the movie & will NOT be like you’ve ever seen this performance before. Queer Takeovers ‘Rocky Horror Cabaret’ will titillate your senses, stimulate your bemusement, and keep your imagination spinning with bewildering intrigue.
Gay4Jazz
Queer Takeover house band ‘Gay4Disco’ comprised of a rotating mix of Burlington & Vermont LGBTQIA musicians takes on a taste of jazz.
Gay4Jazz not only will recreate the iconic songs of the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack but will also provide (2) sets comprising original arrangements of traditional & contemporary jazz standards.
Based in Burlington and raised in Buffalo's punk and hardcore underground, missandri prioritizes energy over genre through pulsing rhythms and gritty textures. Shaped by a scene where dance floors thrive on intensity, she creates an immersive experience to satisfy the desire for cathartic release through movement.
