Foam Brewers hosts a special Reggae Fest pre-party on Thursday, June 25 featuring Jamaican reggae veterans Papa Michigan and Carlton Livingston backed live by Boston dub collective Dub Apocalypse, with selecta Chancellor setting the tone throughout the night.

Papa Michigan helped define the early dancehall era in Jamaica with his signature toasting style and energetic live performances. Emerging in the late 1970s alongside his musical partner General Smiley, he became known for classic sound system cuts and infectious stage presence that helped shape the foundation of modern dancehall culture.

Carlton Livingston rose to prominence during reggae’s roots and dancehall transition in the early 1980s. Best known for timeless tracks like “100 Weight of Collie Weed,” Livingston’s soulful vocals and laid-back delivery have made him a staple of reggae sound systems and stages for decades.

Backing both artists is Dub Apocalypse, the heavy-hitting Boston ensemble known for blending deep dub, roots reggae, jazz, and psychedelic improvisation into massive live performances. Together, the group brings classic Jamaican vocal styles into a modern live dub setting.

This show also serves as an early celebration for Reggae Fest weekend later this summer, with good vibes, deep bass, and late-night dancefloor energy at Foam Brewers.

Co-presented by True 802, Foam Presents, and Reggae Takeova.
