Foam Presents: Michael Wilbur (of Moon Hooch)
Friday, March 13th
7:30 Doors | 8pm Show | FREE ENTRY
Michael Wilbur is an internationally touring saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist from Brockton, Massachusetts, known for igniting dance floors with raw brass energy and genre-defying sound. After nearly three decades mastering the saxophone and more than 16 years performing worldwide, Wilbur co-founded Moon Hooch, the two-saxophone-led phenomenon that helped spark a global brass-driven dance music movement. What began as subway busking in New York City grew into festival stages and clubs across more than 20 countries.
Now performing under his own name, Wilbur channels that same explosive spirit into a powerful solo live-looping show. Using bass saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, voice, and electronics, he builds intricate, pulsing layers in real time. The result blends EDM, jazz, hip-hop, soul, and house into music that feels both futuristic and deeply primal.
His collaborations include Too Many Zooz, TAUK, The Motet, Honeycomb, and Mike Doughty, along with Thundersmack, his electrifying side project with saxophonist Leo P. On stage, Wilbur’s performances feel less like traditional concerts and more like communal rituals, turning strangers into a sweating, swaying congregation united by rhythm, breath, and movement.
Equal parts dance party and sonic ceremony, Michael Wilbur proves that one artist, a saxophone, and fearless creativity can still move the world. As he puts it, music is the healing force of the universe.
